Our Physical Activity in Early Years training supports early years professionals to create positive, safe and impactful opportunities for children to be physically active whilst developing fundamental movement skills.

Course outline

This Physical Activity in Early Years Training will eqip early years practitioners and wider children’s teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively promote physical activity among children aged 0-5. Attendees will be encouraged to develop services to support early years physical activity in diverse communities and create a collaborative approach to child health and development.

Foundations of Physical Activity

Understanding the importance of physical activity and physical literacy in early childhood development. This includes developing gross and fine motor skills, coordination and physical confidence.

Supporting physical development

Factors supporting babies and young children’s physical development – challenges and solutions

Incorporating Physical Activity into Learning

Understand how to integrate physical literacy into the daily routine and curriculum. Strategies for blending physical activity with educational content to create dynamic and interactive learning experiences.

Practical Activities and Exercises

Develop the skills to deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate physical activities.
